We are the Volunteer Hedgehog First Response Unit for the Monmouthshire and Wye Valley area and have been open since January 2024. We provide a triage, advice, and transport service for sick, injured, or orphaned hedgehogs. All our volunteers are trained, and have an appropriate rescue kit.
Our rehab centre ‘The Prickly Patch’ opened in Monmouth in April 2026 which is vet supported and volunteer run, helping significantly reduce travel time for poorly hedgehogs in the area to get the urgent care they need. Please note The Prickly Patch centre is not open to the public, but all our trained FRU volunteers have access to it and will transport poorly hedgehogs there.
Our phone line operates as an answerphone system – please leave a message and one of our volunteers will call you back as quickly as possible.
