More Directory Updates November 2026

Last month we introduced the ‘hub’ – a single page where you can now find everything you need to manage your listing: information, action buttons, guidance, FAQs, site news, and useful resources.

I’ve now made a further addition to the hub to make it quick and easy for you to set your listing as Temporarily Closed and then to either extend the closure or reopen your listing again.

Now, when you go to the My Listings tab, you’ll see a new button – ‘Set Listing as Temporarily Closed’. Clicking on this will bring up a popup asking you for details of the closure and when you expect to reopen. Enter and submit that information and that’s it – your listing will still appear in search results but with a prominent banner saying you’re currently closed.

As before, when the date you told us you expect to reopen gets close, you’ll get an automated reminder that your listing is set as Temporarily Closed. When you return to My Listings, you’ll see two new buttons – ‘Extend Closure’ and ‘Reopen Listing’.

If you’re going to be closed longer than expected, simply click on ‘Extend Closure’, enter a new Expected Reopening Date, and submit.

Once you’re open again, just click on ‘Reopen Listing’ and you’ll be given the option to reopen either with or without reviewing the listing. If you choose to review, you’ll be shown the popup summary of your listing information to check over and when you confirm, your expiry date and listing verification will be extended for another six months. Or choose to reopen without reviewing to just reopen. Either way, the Temporarily Closed banner is removed from your listing.

One more change we’ve made this month is to set the opening hours section of your listing as expanded by default. We hope this will encourage more of you to add opening hours to your listing.

The aim of both changes is to make it easier for you to indicate your availability which, in turn, helps finders to focus their efforts on contacting rescues in a position to help.

As always, any questions or feedback, please do get in touch.
