The Hulse Towers Hedgehog Refuge is a registered charity
Our hedgehog rescue centre was established in December 2016, our purpose built Hedgehog Hospital opened in July 2018.
We work with the close support of our local veterinary clinic.
We never rehome hedgehogs into enclosed hutches or enclosed runs.
Euthanasia by our vet is only used to relieve suffering when there is no other viable humane option.
We always try to keep rescuers informed of the progress of the hedgehog they bring to us.
Where possible/practical we always try to return hedgehogs back to their original habitat when healthy, unless that habitat presents a danger to the hedgehog.
Where possible/practical we like to involve the original rescuer in the release of the hedgehog when it is fit and well.
We have a number of volunteer fosterers who overwinter hedgehogs, once medical treatments have been completed, if it is too late in the year to release them.
